• Dr. Yu invented the H6 solar inverter topology and spread this knowledge to the global power semiconductor industry.
• Dr. Yu serves as the Thrust Leader for the Solid-State Transformer in the FREEDM System Center at North Carolina State University.
• Dr. Yu engaged with the U.S. Department of Energy for road-mapping of Solid-State Transformers for power distribution applications and developed a presentation on Solid State Transformers on the website supported by the U.S. Department of Energy.
• Dr. Yu is the Chief Technical Officer in NC Solar Inverters LLC, a startup company of North Carolina State University. His innovative solar inverter solution enables 82% cost saving of high power SiC inverters by integrating the cost-effective Silicon power devices with extremely low conduction loss and negligible switching loss. NC Solar Inverters LLC is a Finalist of the Round 6 and Round 7 American-Made Solar Prize announced by the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO).
