Derek Duran is a regulatory policy and economic analyst at Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. He is the lead staff pertaining to interconnection issues and policies in Minnesota. This includes cost allocation policies for both small DER (40kW and lower) and larger sized DER (up to 10MW) as well as interconnection queue policies and technical regulations. Derek also facilitates the statewide Distributed Generation Working Group (DGWG) which works to identify interconnection trends and issues before they happen and to work through them as a group (regulator, utility, developer, cooperative, clean energy group, etc.) to make the process of regulation smoother and more efficient.
