The Future Grid Requires Long Duration Energy Storage

Significant load growth from data center expansion, electrification, and industrial decarbonization is creating challenges across ISOs, and creating market specific constraints that require large scale solutions. Grid reliability demands, clean generation mandates, and time shifting vast amounts of renewables to avoid curtailments have utilities looking for 8-12 hours of clean capacity solutions to meet these longer duration needs.

This session will explore how long duration energy storage technologies deliver cost competitive solutions and long-life assets, and discuss some of the LDES technologies that are beyond the pilot phase today, with proven track records, operating utility-scale assets - and why these solutions are needed to get us to the grid we need to power the future.
