Ask the Right Questions: Planning for ESS Lifecycle Success

Energy storage RFPs are written based on potential. How could this system be used? What factors might set up this project for success? Asking the right questions from the beginning can lead to the best possible outcomes throughout the lifecycle of the system and ultimately create a legacy that lasts even beyond. Retrospectively assessing energy storage projects and defining key planning-stage questions to address in future projects enables us to learn from successes and failures alike to improve outcomes. In this session, we will understand all phases of the energy storage lifecycle, conduct a retrospective on sample projects, and in doing so learn to ask better questions from vendors. We’ll discuss lifecycle phases from a system’s “birth” to “first steps,” “adulthood,” all the way through end-of-life.
