The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange (i2X) convenes a national community of practice, innovation, and excellence to enable simpler, faster, and fairer interconnection processes while enhancing the reliability, resiliency, and security of our distribution and transmission grid networks. The i2X team returns to RE+ to share and discuss our latest efforts such as the newly released Transmission Interconnection Roadmap, the launch of the Forum for the Implementation of Reliability Standards for Transmission (FIRST), and industry collaboration for revision and development of new reliability standards. In this workshop, the i2X team will provide an overview of key success targets for 2030 and discuss different strategies to achieve them. Attendees will participate in two interactive tabletop exercises. In the first exercise, attendees will represent diverse stakeholders collaborating to implement solutions to transmission interconnection with an emphasis on reliability. In the second exercise, led by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, attendees will apply principles of equity and energy justice to the stages of distribution-level interconnection, working collaboratively to develop and review solutions to overcoming barriers to equitable clean energy access.
Join us and share your experience and insights—let’s do this! To learn more about our tabletop exercises, please schedule an office hour or contact i2X@ee.doe.gov.
