The SEPA Utility Business Institute is a three-and-a-half-hour interactive group learning activity designed to equip up-and-coming energy industry leaders including manufacturers, developers, consultancies, IT, finance, and electric companies with the tools and techniques to evaluate challenges, identify opportunities, and develop as culturally agile leaders to support the distributed energy system of the future.
This year's inaugural institute will equip energy industry professionals with insightful and interactive training on decision-making strategies and the related tactics high-reliability organizations like electric utilities, airlines, and hospitals use to evaluate external disruption, manage obsolesce, and prioritize innovation while maintaining performance, safety, and reliability standards.
After attending this session, attendees should be able to:
1. Define a lead, fast follow, or get out of the way response to a disruption.
2. Describe how a high-reliability organization evaluates disruption
3. Assess business opportunities within or when partnering with a public utility when disruption occurs.
4. Analyze how a public utility (might/can) evaluate possible responses to external disruption through the lead, fast follow, or get out of the way strategy.
