Shanelle Montana is a leading renewable development expert with experience across the United States. As a trusted industry professional, Shanelle manages project teams as they navigate increasingly difficult permitting, siting and market conditions as well as overall portfolio health. As the Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management, Lightsource bp expanded to be a marketshare leader of developed and constructed assets in the United States. Shanelle has taken a community-based approach to development with a focus on sustainable industry and company growth.
Before her work at Lightsource bp, Shanelle lead policy initiatives and project development for Baywa R.E. and EDF Renewable Energy and served in past Board positions at Clean Grid Alliance and WRISE. She has a true passion for renewables and particularly for the economic development clean energy provides to rural communities and farm families. Having grown up on a farm in Central Minnesota herself, she values the time she has spent at kitchen tables around the United States with many generations of farmers.
Shanelle graduated from American University School of Public Affairs in Washington DC with her Masters of Public Policy and has a BA and BS from Hamline University in St Paul, MN. In her spare time, she is the mother of three rambunctious children and the co-founder, along with her husband Chris, of one of the first micro-distilleries in the Midwest, Du Nord Social Spirits.
