Kimberly Shields is a technology manager in the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office. She is a member of the Workforce and Equitable Access team, supporting initiatives such as the National Community Solar Partnership to ensure all Americans can benefit from solar energy. Prior to joining DOE, Kim was the Director of Energy Assistance and Solar Programs at Energy Outreach Colorado, a nonprofit organization working to ensure all Coloradans can afford their home energy needs. She managed programs which stabilized vulnerable households through utility bill assistance, reduced energy burden through no-cost community solar subscriptions, and advocated for equitable development of local clean energy. Kim earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
