Rhaman Johnson is SEPA’s Project Manager of Standards and Interoperability in charge of delivery of parts of grants focused on the acceleration and harmonization of smart grid standards and the advancement of interoperability/cybersecurity for the purpose of integrating more renewable energy.
Previous to SEPA, Rhaman worked at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, where he served as Chief of Staff and Regulatory Advisor for New Jersey BPU Commissioner Upendra Chivukula for almost eight years.
He has worked on a wide range of energy topics, managed the planning and execution of BPU energy initiatives, and developed communications strategies both internally within the board and externally to stakeholders and customers. Rhaman was a member of Governor Phil Murphy's Fuel Cell Task Force (Electricity subcommittee), a member of the New Jersey BPU Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Steering Committee, and worked closely with the BPU's Reliability and Security division managing storm response reporting standards for New Jersey following Tropical Storm Isaias. He has an educational background and professional experience in Accounting and also holds a M.A. in Communications and Information Studies.
