Hong has experience leading the development and consolidation of energy assets totaling over 4 GW in the US and Latin America. As an energy expert, he has overseen the development, construction, and operation of solar facilities, wind farms, and energy storage plants. Mr. Durandal's expertise also extends to the wholesale and retail energy markets, where he has consulted and directed investment strategies for multinational companies seeking opportunities in the US. During his tenure at EDPR, he led the development of the company's assets in Latin America, securing more than $30 million in investment and long-term Power Purchase Agreements.
He graduated from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy with a degree in economics and holds a Master's in Public Policy (MPP) and a bachelor's degree in finance from Berea College. With roots in Latin America and China, he is fluent in English, Spanish, and Chinese (Mandarin). He enjoys calisthenics, playing soccer, and spending weekends hanging out with friends and family. He lives in Houston with his entire family and loves writing, playing chess, and horseback riding. He takes pleasure in exploring new neighborhoods and cities.
