Greg Barron-Gafford is an Associate Professor with a split appointment between the School of Geography & Development and Biosphere 2. He received is B.S. in Environmental Sciences from Texas Christian University and his M.S. in Forest Ecology from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona.
His research is centered on (1) developing our understanding of semiarid ecosystem responses and adaptation to climatic changes, and (2) improving renewable energy efficiencies through co-locating food and solar photovoltaic systems. Over the last three years we have successfully illustrated the tradeoffs associated with the re-introduction of vegetation in solar PV systems.
