Cybersecurity 101 for Solar Stakeholders with the U.S. Department of Energy

Solar and other distributed energy technologies are changing the way we use energy. These technologies are digital systems that require the adoption of cybersecurity practices to mitigate vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities can be attributed to the need for remote access and connectivity to internet to enable some of their functions. In addition, multiple stakeholders are involved in the development and operations of solar technologies. For example, manufacturers, developers, owners, and operators have different cybersecurity requirements and maturity levels. In recent years, several cybersecurity recommendations have been published describing considerations for optimal operations of these systems. But stakeholders may have questions about how these recommendations apply to them and the steps needed for their adoption. This interactive panel hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) will discuss strategies to increase the cybersecurity posture of solar energy stakeholders through training and education.
