Developers are tightly wedged between two competing forces: the need to return on a project's capacity commitment and the cost of equipment to make that happen. Future proofing a project design means that when everything is installed and the COD arrives, the capacity reading on the project gives an expected time of operation before augmentation is required. From a decade of sizing energy storage projects, we’ve developed a 10-step system that combines acquired engineering knowledge of energy storage systems with specifications such as capacity and time degradation, PCS DC voltage limitations, temperature de-rates, and impact on reactive power capabilities tied with Battery charging and discharging C-rate limitations to accurately size projects for long term success.
